Founding Board Secretary
Sharee was born and raised in Camden, NJ. She attended all Camden City Public Schools, including H.B. Wilson Elementary, Yorkship Elementary, Forest Hill Elementary, Morgan Village Middle, and Creative Arts High School, where she majored in Instrumental Music and graduated as the Class of 2010’s Valedictorian.
After graduating from Creative Arts, Sharee went on to receive her B.A in Psychology/Mental Health from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA in 2014. Shortly after, she went on to attend Columbia University’s Graduate Foundations Program, which eventually led her to a passion for education. As a result, Sharee attended and received her Masters of Science in Education from the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education in 2016.
Since then, Sharee has pursued a career in education. She has been a substitute teacher, an instructor for adult education, and is currently a teacher at KIPP Whittier Middle in Camden, NJ. Sharee has a passion for seeking resources for children, specifically children who live in under-resourced, urban neighborhoods. She has also been a part of several campaigns and organizations that serve low-income communities.
Sharee is a member of Tau Beta Sigma National Honorary Band Sorority, Inc.’s Iota Rho Chapter at Spelman College (she plays the tenor saxophone). She enjoys being involved in different extra-curricular activities and always encourages others, specifically children, to express themselves through their talent.
Sharee is the mother to a handsome son named Iran, Jr., a beautiful baby girl named Nari, and the wife of Board Chairman, Iran Mercado, Sr. Together, they are determined to make a difference for our boys in the City of Camden!
