Dr. Raashan R. Turpin, PhD
Rahsaan Turpin was born in Newark, New Jersey and raised in various urban cities between Newark and Edison, NJ. As a result of his life experiences, he is passionate about positively empowering the life and welfare of youth. With this desire, Rahsaan currently works in Special Education serving the youth of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He also co-founded Metropolitan Youth Empowerment Program, an organization created to provide life skills and fitness leadership skills to adolescents. Rahsaan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation Therapy from Lincoln University (PA). He later obtained a Master’s Degree in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University (DC) and holds several certifications in Special Education. Additionally, he recently earned his Doctorate of Philosophy in Human Services and Counseling from Walden University (Minn.).
Rahsaan has over twenty years experience working with at-risk youth and adolescents in clinical and academic settings from various urban communities in Washington, D.C., New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. He also previously served as a group facilitator for a fatherhood education program in Arlington, VA. He has actively participated in multiple professional conferences, workshops, and served as a guest speaker on several panels and forums for youth and child welfare. Rahsaan also holds membership to several professional organizations. He is passionate about child welfare, promoting parental engagement, and desires to impact future policy development related to matters pertaining to child welfare and family services.
As a Board Member for B.O.S.S., Rahsaan desires to use his experiences to help enhance the life experiences of adolescent males in Camden and surrounding areas.
